Church Design

The Diocese of Venice in Florida and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church engaged PRA to design a new 20,000 square foot church for a growing Parish in Lakewood Ranch. Soaring 45 feet tall with towers and a cupola matching the existing church entrance, the new 1,100 seat main worship space provides much-needed capacity for the Parish. Additionally, a 200 seat Daily Mass Chapel, 24 seat adoration chapel, Reconciliation Chapels, a generously sized Narthex, and a Bride Room and Ushers’ Room provide for the Parish’s ministries while adding aesthetic interest to the building form. Designed with a pre-manufactured metal building frame, the new church maximizes volume and efficiency without compromising the worshipful environment inside and out. As part of the Parish’s Master Plan, the new church building is designed to expand to seat 1,500 while the existing church and adjoining spaces will be converted to religious education classes, Parish Hall, and support space.
