Superintendent of Swallow School District Transitions to New Role with PRA
We are excited to announce that Dr. Melissa Thompson is joining PRA starting in July as our Director of Education Strategy! Dr. Thompson was most recently the superintendent of Swallow School District for 12 years, where she helped lead, with the school board and staff, the 2018 referendum efforts to update aging facilities. Throughout her career, she has spoken at numerous professional conventions on a variety of topics; including School Finance in Wisconsin, Adolescent Literacy and Effective Curriculum and Programmatic Review Processes, Strategic Planning and School Improvement, the Master Facilities Planning Process, Community Engagement, School Board Member Orientation and Relationships, School Safety, Compensation Model Development, and more.
“We are excited to have Melissa on our team. Her depth of experience and knowledge will enable us to dive deeper into the needs of our educational clients, their students, and the communities they serve. Ultimately, our goal on every project is to empower educators and Districts with new tools to help every student,” Nicholas Kent, PRA Partner, states.
The role of education and the function of schools is ever-changing and the complexity of services places increasing demand on our educational institutions. In her role as Director of Education Strategy, Dr. Thompson will play an integral role in translating an educator’s viewpoint of learning environments, the daily challenges of teaching, and the alignment of the student, the pedagogy, and the space. She will ensure that our services remain sensitive to both educators’ and learners’ needs and further elevate the learning and teaching experience through architectural and interior design.
