Daniel Effenheim
ASID, NCIDQ | Interior DesignGrowing up, Dan and his family would go on vacations where they would tour old houses and historical buildings. On the tours he would marvel at the history, architecture, design, and craftsmanship of the places he saw and always left feeling inspired and in awe of the beauty of the built environment. It was on these trips he began to fall in love with architecture and interior design. That passion led him to pursue design as a career and today he has over 20 years of experience in interior design.
Currently, Dan is a Senior Interior Designer and Associate at Plunkett Raysich Architects. What he appreciates most about working at PRA is the variety of projects he gets to work on. Working across studios has given him a diverse perspective which he utilizes to develop unique design solutions in the spaces he helps create. Dan enjoys analyzing the nuances between each project type and discovering where he can use strategies across studios. On projects, he has the responsibility of collaborating with the client to develop the interior concepts for their spaces, coordinate and document the finish, furniture, and artwork selections, and oversee the project through to its final close out.
Dan understands the functionality of space directly affects the form of the interior environment, so he enjoys getting involved early in the project process. By doing this, he can provide space planning decisions that help solidify interior design concepts, creating beautiful and functional spaces for his clients. Dan believes that when a space is well planned and thought-out interior concepts develop organically. He appreciates when projects speak to him but is equally motivated by design challenges. Even though the process can be more complicated, it pushes him to think outside the box resulting in truly innovative and unique spaces. Dan is not afraid to push his clients outside their comfort zone and try new ideas. He believes the best concepts come from exploring outside the ordinary.
Outside of PRA, Dan has a deep admiration and appreciation of the performing arts. He currently tries to take bi-annual trips to see performances and has currently seen more than 40 shows. He is also an active member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and recently on the board of the Wisconsin Chapter (ASID WI).
