Doug Kunde
AIA | Education“I want to be an architect that leaves a lasting impression and impact on my client’s lives. That way I know we created something that went above our client’s expectations and we helped them create their vision.”
Teacher. Teammate. Aspiring world changer. Three simple yet perfect characteristics to describe Doug. He has always had a passion for leaving the world a better place, which is one of the reasons he chose to work in PRA’s Education Studio. He is inspired daily by the possibility of creating learning environments that can foster world-changing ideas and the next future leaders. He says that it is a large responsibility to be a part of molding the young minds of today and hopes they will benefit from the spaces he and his team create.
In 2009, Doug officially joined PRA because he appreciated how every employee is empowered and trusted to make choices with support available when needed. As an Architect and Associate, Doug is generally responsible for managing projects and being the point of contact for clients from the start to years after the building is finished. His responsibilities entail overseeing internal teams, developing schedules, and ensuring everyone has what they need to have a successful project. His favorite part of the project process is planning because he enjoys consolidating all the moving parts of developing a structure into thought-out strategies and erase challenges before they arise. Additionally, he is always looking to improve the way things are done within the architectural industry. He illustrates this by always being available to clients after project completion and continually learning from their feedback.
Doug also takes on the responsibility of helping his co-workers continue their education and further craft their skills. As part of PRA’s Knowledge Sharing Committee, he plans learning opportunities for employees of all skill to attend, so they can sharpen their skills to better serve their clients. There is nothing more rewarding to him than teaching someone a new process, concept, or technique and they, in turn, teach someone else later down the line. In his spare time, Doug also is a key organizer and coach of PRA’s recreational volleyball team. On or off the court, he always tries to set his teammates up for success.
